Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss some existence and closure problems concerning the forward and backward diffusion equations. Existence results are given in terms of certain geometric structures of the non monotone diffusion flux function; the main approaches for existence are the Baire’s category and convex integration methods for partial differential inclusions. The closures of approximating solutions are characterized under different convergences; such results rely on compensated compactness and relaxation in calculus. of variations.
