摘要：Algebraic variety is one of the most important subjects in the classical algebraic geometry. Algebraic variety in the classical algebraic geometry deals with the intersection of surfaces of polynomials.
It is well known that the face of any objects is combined by some surfaces, and their intersection, so to study the algebraic variety will be very important in both theory and practice.
Because of most surfaces have been recently represented in the piecewise polynomials, the study of so-called “Piecewise algebraic variety” defined as an intersection of surfaces represented by the piecewise polynomials should be also most important in both theory and practice.
In this talk, we will introduce some essentially difficulties in studying the piecewise algebraic variety, some results, and some open problems
简介：王仁宏1937年生，江西南昌人。大连理工大学数学科学学院教授，博士生导师。1959年毕业于吉林大学数学系并留校任教至1989年11月调到大连理工大学。曾任国务院学位委员会第三、四届学科（数学）评议组成员，教育部科技委员会数学物理学部委员， 中国数学会常务理事， 中国计算数学学会常务理事，教育部数学学科规划组成员，美国《数学评论》评论员， 大连市数学会理事长， 辽宁省及大连市数学会名誉理事长。现任国际杂志《Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics》(荷兰Elsevier出版社) 编委、《Advances in Adaptive Data Analysis: Theory and Applications》(新加坡World Scientific出版社) 编委；俄罗斯科学院西伯利亜分院出版的俄文杂志《计算技术》编委；《数学研究及应用》杂志共同主编等。在国内外发表论文200多篇，著作10部。1975年奠定了多元样条的理论基础，并给出了普遍适用的“光滑余因子方法”。该成果被国际上称为“王定理”。美国国家科学院院士，美国国家科学勋章获得者Carl de Boor 称王仁宏为多元样条的“开拓先驱”。王仁宏与合作者被国际誉为“多元样条研究的国际三大流派之一”。王仁宏曾应邀在包括美国加州理工学院、IBM公司Thomas J. Watson研究中心、东京大学、罗马大学等在内的美、加、德、日、意、法、荷、比、芬、科及香港地区做学术讲演近80次。多次出席国际学术会议并作大会邀请报告、会议主席和学术委员会委员等。王仁宏曾获国家自然科学三等奖（1982），国家国防科工委国防科学技术一等奖（1999），国家教育委员会科技进步二等奖（1988，1997），教育部全国普通高校优秀教材一等奖（2002）。
