Report summary:


    In this talk, we will give a brief introduction to the fundamental invariants of dynamical systems, ie, dynamical entropy and pressure, in both topological and measure theoretical setting. The invariants in these two different setting are related by the famous variational principle. Some elementary examples will be given, which should be accessible to students. Finally we present a result on calculations of pressure for certain smooth dynamical systems, which is a joint work with W. Zhang and Y. Zhou.




Brief introduction of the speaker:


     Li Zhiqiang is an associate professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Chongqing University. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Ph.D. and did post-doctoral research at the Fields Institute of the University of Toronto in Canada. His research field involves operator algebra and dynamical systems. The speaker presides over one National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project, a number of central university scientific research projects, and participates in the National Self-Research Project and Chongqing Natural Science Foundation Project. The reporter has published several articles in CJM, JFA, JMAA, DCDS, JTA, NONLINEARITY, Chinese Science, etc.
