The Math Department of Jilin University advertises an international postdoc position in collaboration with Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany, and with an optional extension to University of La Rochelle, France.
The candidates will be employed by Jilin University for a period of 2+1 years (third year after positive evaluation). The candidates will spend roughly one semester per year in Göttingen, beginning the first semester in Jilin University. The starting date is 1st of September 2023 (to be adjusted upon mutual agreement).
Jilin University is one of the top Chinese universities. In 2017, the subject of mathematics was selected into the ranks of the national "Double First Class"; discipline construction. There are two national centers, Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Northeast China and National Center for Applied Mathematics in Jilin, affiliated to the School of Mathematics of Jilin University.
Göttingen is one of the mathematical departments with the most distinguished traditions world-wide, having been home to Gauss, Riemann, Noether, Hilbert, Klein to name just a few of the ancestors. The department has an ambitious research program in many areas of pure and applied mathematics. La Rochelle University is a young and dynamic institution based on the beautiful Atlantic coast of France. Their team works on various aspects of contemporary differential geometry, and in particular manages the national research regroupment on applications of geometry to theoretical physics and mechanics. Depending on the profile of the candidate, a research stay there can also be implemented.
The postdoc program features intensive training and cutting-edge research projects in pure and applied mathematics, focusing in particular on PDE, operator theory, geometry, topology, higher structures, mathematical physics.
Your profile: you hold a highly qualified PhD in Mathematics, are willing to set up a research network with us, are proficient in English, have (pre-)published results.
In addition to the salary of 240,000-300,000 yuan/year (depending on the situation) before tax and social security (roughly 2000-2500 euros per month afterwards).
