From November 10 to 12, 2023, the "Academic Symposium on the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Mr. Xie Bangjie" co-hosted by the School of Mathematics of Jilin University and the National Tianyuan Mathematics Northeast Center was held at Jilin University. Attendees included:
Professor Xi Nanhua, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Standing Committee Member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC);
Professor Zhang Jiping, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the China-Russia Mathematics Center;
Professor Ma Yanming, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jilin University.
More than 100 experts, scholars, and students from over 40 domestic and international universities and research institutions participated, including Peking University, the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Beijing Normal University, Sichuan University, Xiamen University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Capital Normal University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Central China Normal University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Capital University of Economics and Business, and Jilin University. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Zhang Ran, Dean of the School of Mathematics at Jilin University.
The successful convening of the "Academic Symposium on the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Mr. Xie Bangjie" not only revisited Mr. Xie's historical contributions and academic demeanor but also facilitated the inheritance of Jilin University's mathematical legacy. It inspired a new generation of mathematicians to carry forward his aspirations and spirit, urging them to stride forward with greater vigor on the path of "double first-class" construction—upholding integrity, fostering innovation, and pursuing excellence.
