On August 7, 2025, the collaborative seminar between the School of Mathematics of Jilin University and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Seoul National University was successfully held in Room 209 of Zhengxin Building, Jilin University. The seminar aimed to promote academic development and talent cultivation between the School of Mathematics at Jilin University and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Seoul National University, broaden academic horizons, enhance scholarly exchange, and strengthen academic cooperation. Professor Jia Jiwei, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematics at Jilin University, and Professor Seung-Yeal Ha from the Department of Mathematics at Seoul National University attended the meeting.
At the meeting, both parties introduced the development overview of the School of Mathematics at Jilin University and the Institute of Mathematical Research at Seoul National University. During the exchange, Professor Jia Jiwei stated that the School of Mathematics at Jilin University has always been committed to promoting the development of the mathematical discipline and cultivating high-quality mathematical talent. The cooperation with the Institute of Mathematical Research at Seoul National University will provide broader space and opportunities for both sides in academic research and talent cultivation. He hopes that through this seminar, both parties can achieve more substantial cooperation and jointly promote the advancement of the mathematical discipline.
Professor Seung-Yeal Ha expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by the School of Mathematics at Jilin University. He introduced the research achievements and characteristics of the Mathematics Research Institute at Seoul National University in Korea, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in promoting the development of mathematics. He stated that this collaborative seminar marks a good beginning for cooperation between the two sides and looks forward to conducting in-depth collaboration in more fields in the future.
Subsequently, both parties held a signing ceremony, formally establishing the cooperative relationship. Following the signing ceremony, the two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on talent cultivation, teacher visits, and international exchanges, and reached multiple potential cooperation intentions. The participating teachers actively communicated, sharing their experiences and insights, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.
The successful convening of this seminar has not only established a platform for collaboration between the School of Mathematics at Jilin University and the Institute of Mathematics at Seoul National University, but also provided new opportunities for academic exchange and cooperation in the field of mathematics. Through the joint efforts of both parties, more fruitful results are expected to be achieved in mathematical research and talent cultivation in the future, contributing further to the development of the discipline of mathematics.
