报告摘要:This lecture series will introduce the mathematical control and optimization of fluid mixing and transport associated with incompressible flow models, including the Stokes and Navier–Stokes equations. Our lectures will be devoted to mixing and transport driven by pure advection, where molecular diffusion is negligible, leading naturally to the study of semi-dissipative systems, namely systems that are dissipative in some variables but not in others.
Transport and mixing play fundamental roles in many natural phenomena and engineering applications, including atmospheric and oceanic circulation, pollutant dispersion, ventilation, and chemical processing. Central problems include how to enhance mixing, steer transported scalar fields toward desired distributions, and track evolving fluid interfaces. These problems give rise to challenging questions in nonlinear control, non-convex optimization, and non-smooth analysis. We will discuss issues including well-posedness, existence of optimal controls, differentiability of coupled flow-transport systems, the derivation of optimality conditions, as well as numerical implementation.
The series will conclude with recent developments and several open problems in these topics.
报告人简介:胡薇薇教授现任美国佐治亚大学数学系教授。在加入佐治亚大学之前,她于2016年8月至2019年7月在俄克拉荷马州立大学担任助理教授。此前,她于2015年9月至2016年8月在明尼苏达大学数学及其应用研究所(Institute for Mathematics and its Applications, IMA)“控制理论及其应用”项目中担任博士后研究员,并于2012年8月至2015年5月在南加州大学担任助理教授。她于2012年5月获得弗吉尼亚理工大学应用数学博士学位。
胡薇薇教授的研究方向包括偏微分方程的数学控制理论、传输系统的最优控制,以及面向最优控制设计和模型降阶的计算方法。她已发表40余篇期刊论文,并获得美国国家科学基金会(NSF)、美国国防部(DOD)等机构的多项科研资助。她同时担任IEEE控制系统学会及Applied Numerical Mathematics等学会和期刊的编委。2024年,她获得德国洪堡基金会“资深洪堡学者”项目资助。
